Prompt Generator
A blank page is frightening because anything could happen. So let's decide some of it for you. Press the button for a key, a metre and a mood — that's enough to start writing. Switch to Advanced when you want a form and a challenge as well. Lock anything you like and re-roll the rest.
How to use it
- Don't negotiate with it. The point is that the choices are already made. Accept the prompt and start writing — you can always break a rule later, on purpose.
- Lock what you love. Happy with the key but not the mood? Lock the key and roll again.
- Save it first. Send the prompt to your Composing Journal, then add a recording or a photo of what you wrote underneath it.
- Use it as a warm-up. Five minutes, one prompt, no rubbing out. Not every exercise has to become a masterpiece.
