How to use it while composing
- Find any key's notes fast. Slide to a key signature and read its scale straight off, no working-out required.
- Borrow from the relative minor. Major and minor here share a key signature — mix in a minor chord for a shadowier moment without changing key at all.
- Pick a chord by function. The roman numerals show every diatonic chord in the key — try a I–IV–V or a i–VI–VII for a start.
- Play it back. Hear the scale and watch each degree light up in turn.
